About Leigh Keno

Beginning his career as part of his parents’ country furniture and folk art dealership, a preteen Leigh Keno maintained a meticulously-organized notebook that was full of detailed drawings and research notes about each purchase. This attention to detail would serve him well throughout his career in the auction and gallery fields. Before he attended college, the Smithsonian Institution enlisted Leigh Keno and his brother Leslie Keno to help identify and catalog the celebrated American Stoneware Collection that it had recently received through the estate of Paul Remensnyder. Leigh Keno went on to earn a bachelor of arts in art history from Hamilton College and complete postgraduate studies with a number of fine arts institutions.

A professional appraiser and auction professional for more than four decades, Mr. Keno has earned accolades that include a 2005 National Humanities Medal that president George W. Bush awarded him personally. For the past eight years, he has operated his own boutique auction house that concentrates on high-end fine and decorative arts from the 17th through the 21st centuries.
